South Sudan T1W08

Gidday,
Today two people who worked for agencies in south Sudan came in and talked to us about South Sudan. Their names were Phil and Janet. I learnt.

  1. That South Sudan has 65 different languages including English.
  2. It can get up to 42 degrees Celsius in the day and 30 at night.
  3. Because it is so hot people drink 3-4 litres a day.
  4. At the compound (where Phil lives) they have drilled 150 metres into the ground for water.
  5. Some people at night they take their sheet at night, wet it so they cool in the night.
  6. The wet sheet dries in 30 minutes.
  7. The way they build their houses is, they use bamboo for the frame and rocks to fill it in then they plaster it with mud (or cow turd) and finally they use  reeds for the roof.
  8. They have a rainy season that goes from May to September.
  9. $100 in South Sudan is equivalent to 30 cents in NZ.
  10.  there is 64  tribes.
  11. Every tribe has a unique dance.
  12. You can tell the people of tribes apart from their scars
  13. The river Nile is the main water source
  14. Juba is the capital
  15. Cow in bongo is Caa
Thank you
